Prompt 025 - Hero

“I’ve already wasted megacycles on you little rust-grubbers. You're slagging functional- what? Are you pulling my rotors? You’re Minicons, you idiot runt! You don’t need those guns.”

“I am certain that we do.” Oceanglide argued, awash with desperation. Their beaten and rusted weapons systems had given out almost the moment they’d been used in battle. The commander was giving them a chance, but these were Decepticons. Without a means of self-defence they’d make scrapmetal of his crew. He pushed his fledgling pride under for a second. “Do you want an Autobot to capture us?”

“Then find a real ‘Con to protect you. Shouldn’t be hard.” The medic leered. “Now get off my bench, I’ve got work to-”
A shadow fell across them both, huge and black. Oceanglide winced and spun around. They looked up at the only Decepticon tall enough to brush the repair hangar’s roof when he hunched.

“Tidal Wave.” There was a glitch in the medic’s voice. “Do you want something?”

“Fix them.” The voice rolled over them, a titanic rumble. Oceanglide had never heard it before. Tidal Wave paused before he spoke again, a simple explanation. “Decepticons should be strong.”

He pounded slowly away without another word. Oceanglide stared after him, overcome with an untempered, flooding admiration he’d never known he could feel.

I'm glad to see you writing ficlets again. I really love this one! As someone who only watched Transformers as a kid (and we're talking, like, the original show because I'm ancient), I still really get into Oceanglide's story. You make him relatable and understandable without forgetting his mechanical nature. Please write more!

Sorry for the delayed response, just back from travelling! And thank you so much! I have a lot of fun trying to figure out why Glide and the others are the way they are (and... how they are in the first place because whoo very very minor characters), and I'm fairly delighted that you like it! I should have some more up in the next few days. :D
